Channels Help

Looking for an easy way for your fans to get your video feeds? Let your fans subscribe to your Pando powered video channel and automatically download new videos you post via their Pando application.

To learn more about how to make your own Channel, visit this page.

Subscribing to Channels
You can subscribe to any RSS that posts .pando files, and Pando will automatically download the file when a new package is available. If you have a specific Channel you want to add, you can:

  1. Click Options, then Channels.
  2. Click + Add Channels in the upper right part of the Options window. A new window will open.
  3. Enter the URL of a Channel in the text box (Note: you can usually right-click an RSS icon on a site, choose “Copy Link Location,” then paste the link into the text box).
  4. Click the test button to make sure the feed will work. If the link is valid but doesn’t currently have any .pando files, you can still subscribe to it and Pando will check it regularly for .pando files.

Unsubscribing from Channels
To unsubscribe from a channel:

  1. Click Options, then Channels.
  2. Select the unwanted Channel in the list and click the Off button to stop Pando from checking for new files. If you want to remove the Channel from the list entirely, click Delete.

Disabling auto-download
By default, Pando will check the Channel every hour (or whenever you login to Pando) and automatically download new Packages. If you'd rather Pando just show you the available files in your Channels tab so that you can choose which ones to download, follow these steps:

  1. Click Options, then Channels.
  2. Select an active RSS Channel from the list. Uncheck the box next to Auto-download packages published to this Channel.
  3. Repeat for each active Channel.

Automatically deleting old Channel packages
Pando is set up by default to automatically delete older Channel Packages and make room for new ones. You can control when this deletion occurs, as well as mark packages to save them from being deleted. Here’s how:

  1. Click Options, then Channels.
  2. Select an active RSS Channel from the list. To turn off auto-delete completely for that Channel, uncheck the box next to Auto-delete oldest package.... To adjust the threshold at which older Packages start getting deleted, change the default (3) to whatever number you like.
  3. Repeat for each active Channel.

To save a package from being deleted, simply click on the package and press the “keep” button. This will lock and save the package.

Choosing a download location
All the episodes downloaded to My Channels are stored in the directory: c: \Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Pando Packages\Channels\ If you want to change this location, all you have to do is:

  1. Click Options, then Channels.
  2. Click on the link next to Download to: and select any place on your hard drive.
