What version of Outlook do I need?
The Pando Microsoft® Outlook Plug-in only works with Outlook 2003.

Will the plug-in change how Outlook operates?
You will be able to do everything you ever did, including sending standard attachments. The plug-in just adds the ability to send attachments as Pando Packages. And who wouldn't want that? After you install the plug-in, the differences will be:

  1. A Pando dropdown menu will be added as an additional toolbar in Outlook's Compose window.

  2. Outlook compose

  3. A window will appear if you try to send an email with an attachment over 2MB. You can stop this feature or change the settings for when it appears.

  4. Prompt from Outlook to use Pando

How do I send a Pando Package with Outlook?

  1. Create a new email. Enter the recipient address(es), enter the subject, write the message. You don't need to mention Pando; the plug-in will insert a notice for your recipient.
  2. When it's time to add your attachments, click the Pando drop-down menu in Outlook's Compose window and choose Attach large files and folders... (Or, you can save a mouse-drag and click right on the Pando icon next to the drop-down menu.)

  3. Pando button in Outlook

  4. Pando's Package Files window opens. Use the left-hand drawer to find the files or folders you want and drag them to the "files & folders" area in the right-hand part of the window. The "total size" counter below gives you a running estimate of the total Package size.

  6. Enter a Package name (if you are only attaching one file, the name will be filled in for you). Add a description if you like.
  7. Click Insert. The Package Files window will close and a .pando file will appear in the attachments field of Outlook's Compose window. This is just a placeholder Package file until the real Package is created.

  9. Click Send. If this is the first time you are sending a Pando Package, you will need to fill in your full name and email. You may see a status bar as Pando packages your files, then your email gets sent as usual. The Pando application will upload the files in the background. If you open Pando, you can watch its progress.

I only want to send Pando Packages when the attachment is over 5 MB. Can I set that?
Sure. By default, the Pando Microsoft Outlook Plug-in will automatically suggest that you use Pando to send any attachments over 2 MB. But you can set that to any size (up to 1 GB).

  1. Open the Pando application. Click options. Choose Email Plugins from the drop-down menu.
  2. If there is more than one email plug-in listed, click Outlook.
  3. See the line at the bottom which says: "Package files when outbound email attachments exceed 2 MB." Change the number.

How can I remove the Pando icon from the Outlook toolbar?
If you remove the icon from the toolbar, you won’t be able to manually attach files as Pando Packages anymore. But Outlook will still suggest that you Pando attachments over the defined size limit.

  1. Open a “compose new email” window
  2. Right click on the toolbar.
  3. Click on “Pando Toolbar” to deselect it.
If you change your mind, just right click in the toolbar area again and re-select “Pando Toolbar.”

When I want to make a Pando Package, it takes a while for the “Package Files and Folders” window to show up. Can I speed that up?
Maybe. It’s really more an issue with Windows than with Pando or Outlook.

  1. Click on the Pando icon in the Outlook toolbar. The “Package Files and Folders” window appears.
  2. The default view for the left section of that window — the place where you browse to the files you want — is “thumbnails.” Generating those can take a while. Click the “Views” icon (the one next to the paperclip) and choose anything else: tiles, icons, list or details.
  3. Close that window or create a new Package.
  4. From now on, this window will open using that view. And it will open faster.

I have Outlook Plug-in installed. When I close Outlook, Pando remains active. Why is that?
Since the Outlook Plug-in is enabled, Pando is activated once you run Outlook. Pando application will remain active even after you close Outlook.
Starting from version 1.4, when you install Pando Plug-in for Outlook , Pando will boot in Plug-in mode: This will allow Pando to be used to send large email attachments through Outlook, but not require Pando to be loaded all the time as it has been in the past. Pando in Plug-in mode will not appear in your taskbar and will only load Pando based on your Plug-ins settings under Options.
