Pass me one of those stogies, fellas. Scooter, stop those presses — and, er, get me some more gin. It's gonna be a long night...Oh, wait, our "press room" is just a Web page?
Well, here's the scoop:
Digital cameras, camcorders — who doesn't have one of each these days? Problem is, people are having a tough time getting their precious digital memories circulated among their family and friends — especially the video. And, forget the loved ones for a second; ask anyone in the business world if he or she has ever created a masterful PowerPoint presentation only to find out, 48 hours later, it was never received because it was too big.
Sure, there are a few other large-file transfer solutions out there, but frankly, we weren't satisfied with them. We don't want people poking around on our hard drives nor do we have the time to create "social spaces" and keep them updated. We could upload our files to some Web site but don't feel right asking friends to "go fetch." Then there's the incoming stuff; we especially don't want to have to check in 10 different places for files — pictures, videos, presentations — that our friends want us to see.
We wanted to create something as simple as email — that works, in fact, with our existing email accounts.
So that's what we did. Enjoy.
